Organized and ran bi-weekly meetings, set up field trips to the local museum of modern art, brainstormed and created group art activities including world art day and a kaleidoscopic art installation on campus, wrote and sent newsletter to members. Your activities list can make a big difference in your application.įounder, Art Honors Society Lincoln High Why should you spend 30 minutes up-leveling it? The more competitive the school, the more important how you’ve spent your time outside of class will be. “There are only so many hours in the day so seeing how a student has involved themselves outside the academic arena is a great way of understanding their potential fit for a university campus.” “Extracurricular activities can be a great opportunity to see how an applicant has self-directed their passions and interests,” says Jorge Delgado, Associate Director of International Admissions at Brandeis. While many students simply list their activities in a straightforward manner, I’d like to persuade you to spend a bit more time on this part of the process. Looking for some amazing examples of Personal Insight Questions? We’ve got you. AWARD COPY SPACE WITH BANNER PROPro Tip: If you’re applying to the UCs and Common App schools, make your UC Activities List first, then choose your top 10 for the Common App and cut down the 350 characters descriptions to 150 characters as needed. However, the Common App only gives you space for 10 activities (and 150 character descriptions), as well as 5 honors and awards. Why? Because the UC Activities List gives you up to 20 blanks for inputting your activities and awards, and up to 350 characters of space for describing each activity. The UC Activities List is more comprehensive than the Common App Activities List. Keywords: leadership, responsibility, impact. While your Personal Insight Questions show who you are, your activities list shows what you’ve done. I think rollback only really works well when the game has a big player base where players are likely to have small distances between each other but SSF2 is not that kind of game at all. The trade-off for framerate probably isn't worth it either since the game is 30 fps, and that also means that frame-skipping would be a bigger issue in competitive play.Īlso, one of the developers spoke about rollback on Discord so I'm just gonna put one of his quotes here. Yeah, I’m sure rollback is good when the connection is decent, and the jumps would only be a frame off, but I don’t think it’s this magical fix that makes online perfect.įor a lot of people in SSF2 it’d probably not make much of a difference or just make things more frustrating because people are so far apart already. If you experience tons of lag, you’re also going to experience a lot of rubber banding, it’s only if your connection is already pretty good that you’d see the most improvement. I also cannot even begin to imagine the amount of work it would be to implement, I think it’d need heavy restructuring of the entire game from the ground up, since just setting the state of the game isn’t really possible or straightforward.Welcome to /r/SuperSmashFlash! I'm a podcaster usually, but it seemed silly to waste the Velar's system on nerdy discussions about technology or basketball.Īudio highlights? Trouble by Taylor Swift on low volume, Aviation by The Last Shadow Puppets at normal levels, and Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine cranked loud enough to scare passers-by. Maybe that's just the heated, cooled, and massaging seats.Īlthough there's a more expensive stereo on offer, the standard 17-speaker Meridian set-up will be more than enough for most. The sort of interior that makes you breathe a sigh of relief when you step inside. It's just a really nice place to spend time. Our tester had the Interior Premium Textile Pack ($2500), which brings soft suede-look seat trim and dappled grey textile highlights for the armrests, headrests and seat bolsters, along with blonde wood inlays for the doors.Īdd a pinch of gloss black, stir in a few chrome highlights, and you're left with one of the best-presented cabins on the market today. The parking sensors can be frustrating, too, failing to automatically activate as you edge towards an obstacle at low speeds.Īway from the technology, the Velar has a stunning interior. The graphics on the main infotainment screen are a bit low-rent compared to what's offered in the latest Mercedes and BMW systems, and the fact you have to pay $520 for smartphone mirroring and $940 for DAB radio is criminal in 2019.Īlthough parking sensors and a 360-degree camera are standard on the SE, the camera lags behind the best for clarity. With that said, it's slow to start up and attracts fingerprints at a terrifying rate. It's built around an infotainment and climate-control system relying on two 10.0-inch touchscreens, which takes a bit of getting used to, but offers snappy responses and supports the Velar's pared-back aesthetic once you're used to it. The cabin is well executed, just like the exterior, although there are a few technology gripes. That's just $7000 short of a top-spec Range Rover Sport with a diesel V6, and almost identical to the base Sport PHEV. With all of that (and more, stay tuned) added, the optioned P380 SE you see here is worth $128,787 before on-road costs. Velar SE spec brings standard equipment like matrix LED headlights, flush-fitting door handles, navigation, a 17-speaker surround-sound system, and powered gesture tailgate.Īs with essentially any Range Rover, our tester came loaded with optional extras, starting with 20-way adjustable, heated and cooled massage seats ($8150), the driver-assist package with blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control and high-speed AEB ($3965), the premium black pack ($2310), and the on/off-road pack with configurable drive modes ($1700). White wouldn't necessarily be our first choice, but the Velar does a great job blending classic Range Rover cues with a more modern, sporting shape. As an SE, our tester rode on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard, but there wasn't too much bling adorning its flanks, allowing Gerry McGovern's original design to really speak for itself. The P380 badge brings a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine making 280kW and 450Nm, mated with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, while the SE moniker means it ranks as mid-spec on the equipment front.įinally, the fact it isn't an R-Dynamic means it misses a smattering of sporty add-ons, some R-Dynamic badging in the instrument binnacle, and bigger wheels. The car we have here is an interesting blend of high and medium spec. Provided you're well-heeled, there really is a Velar for everybody. There are 40 model grades, each of which can be customised to within an inch of its life. Adding to the confusion is the dizzying array of variants on offer. Album obsahuje i nové, dříve nevydané skladby. Album vyšlo v únoru 1985 u Verve Records. VU je kompilační album skupiny The Velvet Underground."But it's where that band eventually wound up." And, as such, it's as enjoyable a document as any. "It isn't the same band that started out on the Lower East Side," he admits. He just asks that you don't immediately line it up among the nadirs. to any of the acknowledged high points of the earlier lineup's recorded output. He, too, is well aware that few listeners could ever compare Final V.U. A handful of ear-grabbing performances do surface, though, including a bizarre medley of "Sister Ray" and "Train Round the Bend," and a more than serviceable "Sweet Jane." The presence of Yule's brother, drummer Billy for the Boston show, too, is of interest - he depped for Tucker at the New York gigs that spawned the Live at Max's album in 1970, and had lost none of his power in the intervening years.Īs eye-opening as the music, Yule's own liner notes open the accompanying lyric booklet with an honesty and pride that, again, history has done its best to obscure. Yule alone survived from the earlier lineup, and a similarly powerful track listing does not disguise the new group's distinctly bar-band leanings. With Boston legends Willie Alexander and Walter Powers completing the lineup, the Velvets are at least as tight, and just as relaxed, as their illustrious predecessors, while the live set skillfully blends material from throughout their career, including a suitably driving "What Goes On," an adorably frail "Afterhours," and a (surprisingly?) intense "Sister Ray."ĭiscs three and four, culled from low-fi audience tapes recorded in Wales in 1972 and Boston in 1973, are less intriguing. Add Maureen Tucker's equally distinctive drum sound and, across the first two CDs in this four disc box, you do need to keep pinching yourself to remember precisely what you're listening to.Ĭomprising two complete concerts recorded in London and Amsterdam, during the Velvets' 1971 European tour, those discs are the best, both musically and historically. Reed may have been the songwriter, but Yule's was the voice that we came to know - and that's the voice we hear here. Remember, after all, that fully one-half of the original group's studio legacy, the Velvet Underground and Loaded albums, featured Yule as all but the band's joint lead vocalist remember, too, that all three official Velvets live albums likewise feature him prominently. But then Yule dug into his own archives for this, and suddenly history takes a step back. Neither, for 30 years, did the evidence contradict that truth - Squeeze, the Reed-less band's sole album, was indeed a less-than-palatable affair. It is one of history's most cherished truths - the Velvet Underground died when Lou Reed walked out in summer 1970, and the versions that latter-day bassist Doug Yule kept alive for the next three years, with a variety of sidemen and an awful lot of nerve, were little more than zombie shadows, trading on a name that they had no business borrowing. It’s only a little slower than BOA and speed lace.įit: The size 9 fits my size 9 feet nice and snug and with just a little packing out it will fit perfect. On & Off Ease: It’s got an easy slide in and out and the laces aren’t that hard to get on/off. Adidas is still a little smaller but not as small as you will see in this pic with a size 9 comparison of the 2017 model. The one thing we noticed is as you get into larger sizes there isn’t as much of a difference between the footprint when it comes to companies like Ride, Thirty Two and Burton. it’s a great boot to choose if you are on the border between a regular board and a mid/wide but want to fit in a regular board that appeals to you. This size 9 is approximately 1/2″ to 3/4″ of an inch smaller in overall length which is very impressive. Burton uses to be the best when it came to reduced footprint tech so it’s pretty impressive to see the Samba fit just like Burton on the inside but be that much smaller on the outside. Take a look at the comparison between the Samba and the Burton Almighty. Reduced Footprint: The footprint on the Samba is exceptional and from what I have seen so far it’s at the top of the industry. It’s the exact opposite compared to the Energy Boost boots on the upper end of the line. Shock Absorption: It’s got that minimal shock absorption skate-like feel and out of all the boots in the Adidas line this feels the most like a skate shoe. It’s not ideal for hiking but it’s great in hard to icy parking lot ice or in lift lines on hard days. Traction: Very good traction because of the rubber. Response: It’s a very mellow skate like response going on here that doesn’t really want to smack a boards edge back and forth quickly. I’d rather have circulation in my feet and room to flex it than no heel lift.Īdjustability: Traditional lace boots are very good when it comes to dialing out your boots for your feet and are very underrated. I don’t think it will affect the way I ride and I personally feel people tend to freak out too much when it comes to heel hold. I’d like to see the other liner Adidas uses to put in the Samba and then it should hold a lot better. Heel Hold: The fuzzy liner holds the ankle well enough but I can feel it slide up. The 2018-2019 Adidas Samba feels even better than the 2017 model. There is lots of room for my toes to move and flex so it will not feel like I’m in a cast. Everything else about the boot works fine and I don’t feel any pressure anywhere else. I think it will break in but it’s a slight concern. It’s going to hold it’s flex for a whileĬomfort: The Adidas Samba is pretty comfortable but I do feel a pressure point on the top of the foot where the tongue meets the boot when I flex forward. When loosened a bit it’s got a nice med/soft flex that would work well in the park.įlex Retention: So we love the articulation tech in the ankle here that really works well. It also runs as wide as some wide boots and is great for people with wider feet.įlex: When tightened up well there is a pretty mid-level flex that is just right to work with most boards out there. The same goes for the rest of the sizing around the world except for UK sizing which seems to fit true.
